Dr Cyril Atkiinson-Clement is a cognitive psychologist with expertise in movement disorders and ultrasound stimulation.

Dr Atkinson-Clement obtained his PhD in Aix-en-Provence (France; 2014-2017) on speech impairment related to movement disorders (mostly Parkinson’s disease). He then obtained a first research fellow position in Paris (France; 2018-2021) on cognitive impairments related to Tourette syndrome. He obtained his second research fellow in Nottingham (UK, 2022-2024) on transcranial ultrasound stimulation. Cyril is currently on his third research fellow position at the University of  Nottingham (UK, 2024-2026) to apply ultrasound stimulation on patients with Tourette Syndrome.

Altogether, he has developed different skills and expertise, in movement disorders (mostly Tourette Syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Dystonia), neuroimaging (mostly MRI and PET) and neurostimulation (mostly Deep Brain Stimulation, Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation).

N3Centre Research Interests
  • I am interested in understanding neural mechanisms, especially in clinical populations such as patients with Tourette syndrome.
  • I am also interested to develop / improve our ability to effectively use neurotechnology, especially ultrasound stimulation.
  • I am also interested in applying neurotechnology to clinical populations to improve their conditions / decrease their symptoms.
