Centre for Neurotechnology, Neuromodulation and Neurotherapeutics (N3)
The Centre for Neurotechnology, Neuromodulation and Neurotherapeutics (N3) is an inter-disciplinary research centre bringing together scientists, engineers, clinicians and individuals with lived experience of brain health conditions to co-create the next generation of wearable neurotechnology and neuromodulation devices.
About N3
N3 works across faculties, institutes and universities to advance development in brain imaging and stimulation. Our innovative research aims to transform healthcare delivery for brain health conditions and widen access to safe and effective treatments, both in the UK and globally.
The University of Nottingham (UoN) is well positioned to lead this research, as we prepare to host the UK’s most powerful Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. Our research, funded by UKRI, NIHR, and charitable sources, is linked to UK-wide research networks such as the EPSRC-funded Neuromod+ network, and UoN neurotechnology spinouts such as Cerca Magnetics and Neurotherapeutics Ltd.
Our research themes
Our Centre builds on the University of Nottingham's world-renowned expertise in brain imaging research and application. Our combined expertise in computational and mathematical modelling of brain mechanisms, and clinical strengths in research and treatment of brain health conditions will help us drive research in these areas:
Understanding neural mechanisms
Developing novel forms of neurotechnology
Clinical translation and application of neurotechnology
Our people
Our research teams have a wealth of neurophysiological data from previous studies conducted at UoN. We bring together expertise in applied engineering, a team of scientists and clinicians to advance the future of neuromod+ research in the UK and globally.
Centre Leads
Our leadership and research team comprises of academics and scientists across five departments at the University of Nottingham.
PIs and Research Staff
Centre Students
We have established an interdisciplinary doctoral training centre in neurotechnology and neuromodulation to train UK and international students
