External examiners for taught programmes

The External Examiner system enables the University to ensure that the qualifications it awards are of a suitable standard, and that the student performances are judged appropriately.

Student Services – Service Development sends out a letter of appointment to all external examiners for taught programmes, together with a list of programmes and the fee for that session. An information sheet is also provided which contains a link to all relevant information the external examiner will need (please see below).

Guidance on completing and submitting the annual report and how we use it. Copies of previous examiners' reports are available on request from the Head of School.

We request that all newly appointed External Examiners attend an induction session and examiners will be sent details of sessions as appropriate.
