The University (as sponsor) is able to certify on the Certificate of Sponsorship that it will maintain and accommodate you up to the end of your first month of employment in the UK if required (so that you do not claim public funds). No additional evidence is required as this is confirmed on your Certificate of Sponsorship.
Please note that this is to avoid the necessity for you to prove your ability to meet the maintenance criteria and so to ease the process of applying for your visa. We are able to do so as an "A rated" sponsor.
For the avoidance of doubt, the University expects that you will maintain yourself and any dependents during this period. If you are concerned that you may not be able to do so, please contact the HR Department for assistance in this matter.
You are responsible for ensuring that your accommodation arrangements are in place prior to arriving in the UK. However, please note that the University Houses office can advise on and assist in finding temporary accommodation, which could be located on a University campus. This includes a selection of new guest/visitor accommodation which is available for rental for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months and all are fully furnished with self-catering facilities.
Enquiries may be addressed to University-houses@Nottingham.ac.uk.
It is also our duty to inform you that you cannot claim UK state benefits during this period.
Should the University be required to expend any monies as a result of this guarantee, it will reclaim those monies from you via a deduction from any money owed to you by the University.
