Assisting offer holders

This page is here to help you counsel applicants once they have received their offer from The University of Nottingham, up until the point they arrive and register with The University.

There are currently three types of offer of study from The University of Nottingham:

  • Conditional
  • Unconditional
  • Provisional Unconditional (postgraduate only)

A provisional unconditional offer means the applicant has met the academic requirements of the offer, but still needs to provide certified academic documents to The University. The applicant will be treated as unconditional and can apply for a Tier 4 student visa, but will need to bring the original documents on arrival in order to register.

Deferring your offer

Deferral requests made more than 3 months after the original start date has passed will no longer be considered. Applicants must make their request to defer either before the original start date, or within 3 months. Students can apply for a deferral via their student portal or you can contact your International Admissions with details of offer holders requesting deferrals.

Applicants whose request to defer is approved, will be asked to confirm that they still intend to take up their place and for an update on certain personal details, closer to the start of their course, (for a September entry course, we will contact all applicants before the end of March).

In order for an offer to be deferred the student must pay the tuition fee deposit. Note: this deposit is now £2,000.

For further information on this please contact the International Office, or your International Admissions contact (Mr Tim Bladon or Miss Sofia Markopoulou).
