Personal aspiration and development
Key competencies
Self-management and organisation
As a bioscientist we will encourage and support you to become an independent learner who sets personal goals and takes responsibility for managing your own learning.
Through selecting your optional modules and seeking out additional opportunities (e.g. a year in industry, study abroad or completing the Nottingham Advantage Award) you will develop key personal responsibility competencies.
Reflection and personal development
During your course, you will reflect on your learning and evaluate your progress and seek to improve your performance to achieve your personal goals which we will encourage you to develop early in your course.
You will be actively involved in your discipline and keen to engage in all study opportunities.
Positive attitude and initiative
We will encourage you to be curious and keen to learn more about your area of study, including how your own subject area impacts on other areas of biosciences and society more widely.
One of the advantages of studying in a diverse bioscience environment is that it encourages you be open to reviewing different methods and ways of doing things which frequently provide novel insights and solutions to a topic or subject area.
