Support for MBA Students

Whether looking for a career change or the chance to boost promotion prospects, our MBA students get help to define and shape their career plans.

Our MBA students follow a number of career paths. Some return to their existing employers energised by new ideas, others seek promotion, change careers entirely or even set up their own businesses.

Our support includes:

  • the Careers and Professional Development programme that runs throughout the MBA
  • one to one guidance and personal coaching in career planning, self-promotion and selection processes
  • access to online resources such as Career Leader, MBA Exchange and Pay Negotiation
  • reflecting on abilities and personality styles during the MBA programme
  • exclusive networking opportunities.

MBA student case study

"The Postgraduate Careers Service was very supportive and it helped me to link with alumni in the sector. Furthermore they provided information and opportunities to practice and get ready for interviews.

During my MBA I researched the sector I am now working in, and chose modules that were appropriate for the career I wanted to pursue. I networked with professionals and planned my strategy.

Following my MBA I worked for the company that I had researched for my management project. This experience helped me to build my case for jumping from my previous sector to a new one. I also used my newly expanded network and made contact with a high-level executive in the company.

My advice to future MBA students would be to use the services offered by the Postgraduate Careers Service to help you  identify the roles and organisations that best suit your skills and interests. Most importantly, push your limits to get the job you are aiming for".  Orcun: MBA (2012)
