Our research in finance, accounting, and banking is driving new thinking and shaping the future of business and society. Our internationally recognised experts tackle urgent global challenges, from building financial stability and fostering sustainable investment to promoting corporate transparency and ethical governance. We combine world-class expertise with real-world insight to make a genuine impact on policy, business practice, and communities worldwide.

In finance, we push boundaries in sustainable finance, FinTech and digital innovation, risk management, and inclusive financial systems. In accounting, we lead work on corporate governance and accountability, regulation and reporting, taxation, management control, and accounting education. In banking, we examine how real-world events – such as geopolitical tensions, trade wars, cultural values, and ESG factors – affect bank performance, risk-taking, and regulatory policy implementation.

We focus on projects with the power to transform industries, influence policy, and improve lives. Our researchers are tackling questions such as: How can AI and emerging technologies revolutionise financial services? What’s the best way to integrate ESG principles into investment decisions? How can financial systems withstand geopolitical tensions, embrace cultural diversity, and become more inclusive and accessible to underserved communities?

Our findings are published in many of the world’s most respected journals, including, for example, the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, British Accounting Review, Journal of Banking and Finance and British Journal of Management.
