Less textbooks, more practical learning. If you’re looking for a degree that focuses on the science behind sports and exercise and gives you the opportunity to access medical facilities and experience professional level exercise equipment, then you’re in the right place.
You’ll work in many of the same environments as our medical students, where you can:
As well as labs in our medical school, you’ll also complete some of your learning in our £40m David Ross Sports Village (DRSV). This is the place you’ll get to use elite level exercise and training facilities. We also have purpose-built teaching labs in the DRSV.
You’ll be joining a highly practical course which allows you to study the main bases of sports and exercise science - biomechanics, nutrition, sports medicine, psychology and physiology. Working in smaller groups also ensures you’ll get the time, experience and support you need throughout.
I'd say that doing the practical's is probably the highlight of the degree. You use what you've learned in a lecture and your seminars, and you transfer that to a practical setting.
You are learning anatomy in an actual anatomy suite, not out of a textbook. I think it's a lot more interactive and you learn a lot more quickly.
I had the opportunity to do a biomechanics practical, which you wouldn't have access to anywhere else, I think. So that's been really good.
