Setting you up for success as a cancer sciences graduate

At Nottingham, we make sure your course has hands-on practical learning throughout to help you gain those essential skills from day one.

We know you're keen to get stuck into your career, so we want you to start building your core skills and competencies as soon as you can. 

During your time with us, not only will you be building your clinical skills in lab sessions, but you’ll also have the chance to build your practical understanding through optional placements and shadowing opportunities.

Summer studentships

If you choose our Cancer Sciences BSc course, there are opportunities for you to apply for one of our competitive studentships. These studentships allow you to join research labs during the summer vacation to gain real hands-on experience of research work in industry.

MSci research project

If you choose to study our Cancer Sciences MSci course, during your third year you’ll join a research project as part of a nine-month placement. This can take place in world-renowned labs in academia, industry, or research institutes as part of teams publishing the latest cancer research. 

The placement can be in Nottingham, elsewhere in the UK or even overseas including opportunities in the USA, Australia, and Europe.
