Award-winning computer scientist Joy shares some of her groundbreaking work

As global specialists in user experience design, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and data science, we provide our students with a diverse range of modules and research projects in these fields and beyond. Our research groups are actively working on the technology of tomorrow, shaping our curriculum and ensuring that it remains up-to-date and engaging.

Our courses are taught by world-class computer science lecturers, such as Joy Egede, who has been recognised for her groundbreaking work with awards such as the Women of the Future Award and the L'Oreal-UNESCO UK and Ireland Women in Science Rising Talent Award.

The School of Computer Science maintains a position in the upper quartile of the UoA, with an increase from REF2014 in the percentage of ‘internationally excellent’ and ‘world-leading’ outputs and ‘outstanding’ impact case studies. The excellence of the research environment is recognized by its 100% ‘world-leading’ assessment in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021).
