The JC Smith Scholarship Fund
The JC Smith Scholarship Fund was set up in 2003 in memory of Professor Sir John Smith.
Knighted in 1993 for his services to academic law, Sir John was widely recognised as making a huge contribution to the development of Criminal Law.
Sir John had been associated with the School of Law since 1950 and was appointed as Professor of Law in 1957.
The School of Law's JC Smith Scholarships recognise students who have encountered and overcome barriers to their educational journey and offers financial support of £1,500 in each year of your studies.
Applications to the JC Smith Scholarship are assessed alongside other Social Sciences Undergraduate Scholarships.
The JC Smith Scholarship is funded by the JC Smith Scholarship Fund and is only awarded to law students. However, to minimise the number of different forms applicants need to submit, you only need to apply for the Social Sciences Undergraduate Scholarships and, if you are a potential law student, you will automatically be considered for a JC Smith Scholarship.
