Your electrical and electronic engineering journey

Congratulations! You've earned a place at one of the UK's leading departments of electrical and electronic engineering, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you.

If you haven’t already accepted your offer, it’s time to take the next step and start shaping your future. If you have already accepted your offer, take a look at what you need to do next.

Electrical and electronic engineering at Nottingham

We develop exceptional electrical and electronic engineers who are high in demand - the possibilities really are endless. Here you get the space, support, skills and connections to revel in the real world.

Electrical and electronic engineers create systems that manage energy and data respectively, using overlapping skills from their studies. These skills are vital for designing smart buildings, electric transportation, intelligent manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, medical and connected devices.

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), our career-advancing courses, along with our world-leading research, electrical and electronic engineers help make a greener planet spin a little smoother and improve people’s lives.

A day in the life of an electrical and electronic engineering student

One of the best ways to learn about your course is to hear from our current students. Follow Ometere’s day as she takes you from her student halls to the library, her lectures and seminars, and introduces a typical week in UoN’s well-equipped labs. You can even watch Ometere’s work-in-progress electric car, which is programmed to follow road signs.

A place to grow, learn and belong

You'll be based at University Park Campus, a blend of nature, history, and culture. With acres of green parkland, beautiful historic buildings, and a picturesque boating lake, it’s a truly inspiring place to live and learn.

Specifically for your course, you’ll use facilities that have real-world applications, allow for a varied learning environment, and even give you hands-on experience with practical projects.

Our collaborative teaching and project labs are designed for group working, with teaching taking place over week-long blocks and lab weeks. You’ll be supported by academics and technicians, and in your first year, you’ll create your own autonomous vehicle with an array of sensors to help it perform various tasks.

These project labs have everything you need to begin your engineering journey, and with support from our academics and your own peers, we know you’ll get off to a great start!

Learning that goes beyond the classroom

If you choose to study one of our courses with a year abroad, you'll spend your second year at either our China or Malaysia campus. You'll have the opportunity to continue your academic studies, whilst experiencing a new culture and environment. You will be taught in English from the same curriculum as the UK course and will have dedicated pastoral support.

If you choose to study one of our courses with an industrial year, you'll get the chance to undertake a year-long work placement. This is a great way to bring your course to life in an active working environment. It'll also enable you to build your skills and experience the challenges and innovations in the field.
