Your architectural environment engineering journey

Congratulations! You've earned a place at one of the UK's leading departments of architectural environment engineering, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you.

If you haven’t already accepted your offer, it’s time to take the next step and start shaping your future.

A world-class education with heart and ambition

We’re 3rd for Building in the Complete University Guide 2026 and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026. Not only that, but our courses are also accredited by the Engineering Council through the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). This means your degree is trusted by employers and professionals across the globe.

Excellence that matters

90% of our research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in the latest Research Excellence Framework. This means your lectures, seminars, and assignments are built on the latest thinking and real-world insights.

You’ll be learning from experts involved in real-world projects like the Creative Energy Homes and Trent Basin, and who advised the UK Government’s SAGE committee on building ventilation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A place to grow, learn and belong

University Park is a stunning blend of nature, history, and culture. With acres of green parkland, beautiful historic buildings, and a picturesque boating lake, it’s a truly inspiring place to live and learn.

You’ll also have access to dedicated design studios, fluid and thermodynamics labs, renewable energy research spaces and Creative Energy Homes.

Personal tutor

You can talk to your personal tutor about all sorts of things:

  • How your course is going. What you’re enjoying, what’s tricky, and how to improve if you want to.
  • How you’re settling in, whether you’re feeling at home, or if you’re struggling
  • Anything that might be affecting your wellbeing, big or small.

Shape your journey, your way

Our modules cover areas like energy systems, building performance, environmental design, and digital modelling, giving you the tools to understand how buildings work and how to improve them.

You’ll develop both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills, preparing you to tackle real-world challenges in the built environment.

Learning that goes beyond the classroom

In your second year, you’ll have the opportunity to study at our Ningbo campus in China, gaining global insight into architecture and engineering in a different cultural and environmental context.

This experience will introduce you to new academic environments, teaching styles, and cultural viewpoints. This will broaden your intellectual horizons and develop your critical thinking.

You can choose to take a year in industry, working full-time in a role that matches your interests. This is a great way to bring your course to life in an active working environment. Past students have worked with companies like AECOM, Foster + Partners, WSP, and Hilson Moran, contributing to building services, design, and performance.

Come and see for yourself

Join us for an on-campus experience day and get a real feel for life at Nottingham. You’ll meet your future lecturers, chat with current students, and take part in taster
