CivSoc is run by civil engineering students and is the perfect way to socialise with your course mates, meet students from different years and have fun. With advice from older students and welfare support offered, it really will feel like your extended family.
Events include pizza socials, balls, and an annual boat party, to sports teams – including football, netball and rugby – which compete against other UoN societies. With so much going on you’ll never be bored and will make friends for life.

“The civil engineering course is quite structured for the first couple of years as you need to learn the key engineering principles.

You'll be based at University Park Campus, a blend of nature, history, and culture. With acres of green parkland, beautiful historic buildings, and a picturesque boating lake, it’s a truly inspiring place to live and learn.
Specifically for your course, you’ll have access to specialist facilities, providing you with hands-on practical learning. With geotechnics and fluid mechanics labs, wind tunnels, CAD, our strong floor, and our road materials testing facility, you’ll be able to start building your future now.
You could study at our campus in China or Malaysia, or with a partner institution in locations such as the USA, Canada, or Europe.
This experience will introduce you to new academic environments, teaching styles, and cultural viewpoints. This will broaden your intellectual horizons and develop your critical thinking.
If you choose to study one of our courses with an industrial year, you'll get the chance to undertake a year-long work placement.
