Our law societies

At Nottingham, studying law means having the chance to join a lively and supportive community where you’ll gain more than academic knowledge: you’ll build confidence, networks, and practical skills through a wide range of student-led societies and activities. From the Law Society’s networking fair and social events, to the Pro Bono Society’s community projects, Mooting and Bar Societies’ advocacy training, and international opportunities with the European Law Students' Association, there are countless ways to get involved. Alongside volunteering, wellbeing initiatives, and peer support, these experiences help you explore law beyond the classroom, enhance your CV, and make lasting friendships as part of a vibrant student life.

A place to grow, learn and belong

Our School of Law is based on University Park Campus. With acres of green parkland, beautiful historic buildings, and a picturesque boating lake, it’s a truly inspiring place to live and learn.

You’ll learn from academics whose research is shaping the future of law across a broad range of areas. Find out more about our research.

Learning that goes beyond the classroom

Did you know you can spend a year abroad as a law student at UoN? Hear from our students about how this amazing opportunity has broadened their horizons, both academically and personally.

Imagine working on real cases in the USA, pedal-boating with Viennese locals or travelling with friends you’ve met through Europe’s Erasmus scheme. There's so much to discover during your time abroad.

You’ll learn how different legal systems operate around the world and make unforgettable memories. As Naima says, a year abroad could change your life.

We offer students from the Faculty of Social Sciences the chance to apply for one of our placement and internship opportunities. Alongside detailed careers guidance, these opportunities equip you with the tools to succeed in the graduate jobs market. This is the place where you can expand your horizons and unleash your full potential.

"The internship was... a great opportunity to practice... new skills and to challenge myself. Another benefit of the internship were the great contacts I was able to make. Beyond the team at TI-UK, I was put in contact with two commercial lawyers at Mayer Brown, with whom I was able to have some great conversations. This is not something I was expecting to get out of the internship, and so I was very pleased to be given the opportunity to have these discussions."
