Research interests

The primary thrust of my work in the CBS Nottingham is to explore the interaction of N.meningitidis (organism and candidate molecules) with host cells and the recruitment of potential signalling molecules/pathways, focussing on an already identified host cell receptor, the 37kDa LRP/67kDa laminin receptor. This has been extended to potential post-translational modification of this receptor and identification of the exact nature of the mature (67 kDa) Laminin Receptor.

Prior to this post I was involved with several different projects, primarily concerned with regulatory aspects of Fibroblast Growth Factor receptor (FGFR) signalling at both the level of receptor and analysis of downstream signalling partners and parameters. More recently, work had focussed on a family of FGFR-associated proteins, Fibronectin Leucine Rich Transmembrane (FLRT) proteins, and the role of FGFR and FLRT tyrosine phosphorylation in regulation of function and downstream signalling.
