If you are applying from a country where English is not the official or majority language, you must submit evidence of English language proficiency at the time of application.

As well as IELTS and PTE, we accept alternative language qualifications. For details, refer to our table of English language equivalencies and check for the qualifications equivalent to the IELTS scores listed above.
If you need to improve your English language score prior to your study period at Nottingham, you can consider taking a presessional English course at our Centre for English Language Education.
Please be aware that schools may have higher requirements for postgraduate research projects.
Students exempt from providing proof of English language
Students who have completed their entire secondary education, up to year 12 or equivalent and including an English language qualification equivalent to GCSE, in one of the approved countries listed by the UK's Home Office, are exempt from providing proof of English language.
