What our recipients say...

Theo, economics student

“The scholarship has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. It’s allowed me to focus on my studies, join societies, and truly embrace university life without constantly worrying about finances. It has also shown me that I am valued by the university and that I have people who believe in my potential, which is a great feeling.”

Jodie, English and Creative Writing student

"When I found out about this scholarship, I was instantly relieved and applied, knowing it would allow my university experience to be financially stable, something that I had never experienced before.

Upon being accepted, I was utterly gratified, the knowledge that I didn't have to stress about money and could focus on my degree and passion solidifying university as an option for me."

Sugi, product design and manufacture student

“With the scholarship, I have been able to purchase more equipment for my degree. The basic needs of supplying my own food and paying rent have also been less stressful because I no longer need to rely on my parents for money. Instead, I am more able to manage my funding and think more carefully about my budgeting, which has put my mind at ease by not having to think twice about participating in new opportunities or travelling.”

Tofunmi, pharmacy student

"I faced a tough time during A level season as my mum passed away, and it really took a toll on my mental health... This scholarship has given me the freedom to focus on my studies and find meaningful ways to spend my spare time – I honestly don’t know what I would have done without it.

It has also allowed me to join societies, including the art society, which means a lot to me. I love art, and one of my favourite things was showing my mum my work and seeing the emotions it evoked."

Karina, veterinary medicine student

“My mother has been struggling to find stable footing in the UK while also pursuing her own studies in London, so I had no financial support to rely on. I was incredibly stressed when my savings ran out, so this scholarship has been a massive relief.
Looking ahead, I plan to use these funds to cover travel and accommodation costs for my EMS (compulsory work experience) placements. I’m especially excited about my upcoming residential placement at an RSPCA wildlife rescue centre, where I know I will gain invaluable experience."
