Research ageing in the Nottingham BBSRC DTP
Research focusses on the molecular and cellular basis of ageing, including processes such as oxidative stress and DNA repair. Researchers will gain an understanding of the primary mechanisms of ageing and the underlying genetic, and epigenetic factors of life span and reproduction potential in humans, animals and other model systems. The research area also includes biomarkers of ageing, such as in the muscle-tendon-skeletal system, and the role of diet and health in ageing and age-related declines in cognitive function.
