Research Topic:
How do complex, professionally dominated organisations successfully implement quality and safety initiatives?

Research Details:
Care bundles for preventing surgical site infections (SSIs) within the National Health Service (NHS) is just one instance of a larger, organisational quality and safety problem, where the implementation of technologies for improving quality is challenging. The aim of this PhD project is to explore the successful implementation of quality and safety initiatives in complex, professionally dominated organisations. This will help understand why organisations find it difficult to implement quality assurance mechanisms and what can be done to improve the successful uptake of quality and safety initiatives.
