Car Parking

Parking permits are issued by the Security office, located at the rear of the Hallward Library, University Park, to all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.

Staff or students applying for a permit can access the university's permit system here.

Applications forms for associates, contractors and day vouchers can be found below.

You can read the parking FAQs here.

All full annual permits are now virtual. Full permit holders will not need to display a physical permit when parked on campus.

Occasional User vouchers are still paper based. A permit matching your voucher serial number & vehicle registration must also be on display  - otherwise the voucher is not valid.

Please see the University Car Parking Approved Scheme section for permit pricing, FAQs, Traffic Regulations and more.

Permit Applications

Staff and Associates can choose between a full permit or a permit with vouchers. Students, residents and contractors can apply for a full permit only (terms apply). All permits and vouchers are vehicle specific.

All full annual permits are now virtual and no physical permit is required when parked on campus. Occasional Driver vouchers are still paper-based.

RingGo and pay & display pricing is as follows:

  •   Up to 30 minutes (free)
  •   2 hours (£5)
  •   4 hours (£7)
  •   All day (£10)

A 20p charge will be added on RingGo for SMS notifications. You can opt out of this charge when making your booking.

Visitor Car Park Locations

All of our campuses have 'pay and park' parking locations. For more information please click onto the relevant map link below. Please note that pay and park areas are signified by a VP symbol.

Sports Centre Visitors Only - Parking

All visitors are advised to read the parking rules and conditions displayed on signs around the Sports Centre Car Parks.

Day Vouchers

Day vouchers can be purchased in books of 25, authorised by schools and departments to allow free parking on university campuses.

The cost for 1 book of 25 day vouchers is £125 - this must be paid for with a project code.

We cannot sell day vouchers in smaller quantities - 1 book of 25 is the smallest amount a department can order.

Schools or departments need to complete the form below to apply.

Event Parking

If an event is being arranged by a school or department which may require parking where RingGo, visitor pay & park or the use of Day Vouchers is not felt to be appropriate (or practical) then the school or department can contact the Security parking team via parking@nottingham.ac.uk for further assistance.

Reserved Parking

Up to 2 spaces can be reserved for external VIP visitors of the university.

Parking reservation requests not sent to the Parking Team within 72 hours of the reservation will be rejected.

Day vouchers will have to be provided by the department requesting the booking, alternatively, the visitors can pay for parking using the RingGo app or the pay & display facilities.

Please see the Day Vouchers header for information relating to ordering visitor parking vouchers.

Further information can be found in the Reserved Parking Policy below.

All reservations will require a completed Reserved Parking form, which can also be found below. The completed form will be attached to the cone(s) reserving the space(s).

Alternatives to Driving to Campus

The university actively promotes low-carbon, healthy transport options through a range of initiatives, including:

If driving to campus is the only realistic option, then you may like to consider sharing your journey with others. It's an easy way to do your bit to reduce congestion and improve air quality. The university has a car share scheme specifically to help staff find others making a similar journey.

Electric Vehicle Charging

In 2023 the University invested in the installation of new electric vehicle (EV) charge points, improving the availability across all our campuses.

From 1 March 2024 EV drivers will be charged to use any campus EV charge points. At the same time, restrictions around the use of the campus EV points have been updated.

Payments to use the EV charging points are through our supplier Mer.

Between 9.15am and 4pm Monday to Friday, the maximum EV charging time is 4hours and then you must move your vehicle to a parking space.

Users are required to have a pay and display ticket (or RingGo payment) or a valid university parking permit to use the charge points between 9.15am and 4pm.

Click here for further information and for a list of EV charge point locations
