Open Educational Resources (OER)

These are teaching materials and learning resources residing in the public domain that have been released under an intellectual property licence that permits their free use or re-purposing by others.

The University encourages staff to make copyright-safe materials available as OERs to support its philanthropic aims.

The Open Nottingham initiative

  • U-Now: a collection of the University's Open Educational Resources which can be viewed on the site or downloaded to your own computer.
  • A one day OER workshop available for Nottingham staff and students who want to learn more  about OER and how it can support both teaching and learning. Book on the short courses web site or contact steven.stapleton@nottingham.ac.uk
  • Tools and services including Xerte Online Toolkits
  • Open source software use and development, e.g., using Moodle and making Rogō and Xerte available as open source
