The cost of rent, heating and food is increasing at an alarming rate. A quarter of students are considering whether they can afford to continue at university. Those who were thinking of applying are now wondering whether it’s a sensible option.

Even when taking out the maximum available loans, students are facing a shortfall. If they take on a part-time job, the average wage simply isn’t increasing in line with inflation.

It’s sobering to think what I’d have missed out on in my life if I’d never studied here. I certainly wonder if I’d be able to weather the storm of the current financial crisis right now if my degree hadn’t led to a decent job and career. What Nottingham gave me is priceless. I’ve got so much more out of my life because of the time I spent at this incredible place and I hope it’s the same for you.
