Triangle

Croda is partnering up with the University of Nottingham and the University of York to deliver research outputs of scientific excellence at the TRL 1-3 levels that will focus upon developing novel and sustainable polymers for use in polymer liquid formulations (PLFs).

These materials are found in millions of consumers and industrial products, from household detergents to agrochemicals and cosmetics. However, despite their importance, the way that these polymers are currently made, used and disposed of is putting unnecessary strain on the environment. As a result, there is a clear requirement and demand to make these vital ingredients more sustainable and this is the key focus of our Prosperity Partnership. This is all possible thanks to the EPSRC Prosperity Partnership.

This exciting 5-year programme would foster a new collaboration between the leading UK green chemistry centres. Croda and our Universities and will help deliver the new biodegradable materials with equivalent performance benefits to the existing synthetic polymers. The novel outputs of this partnership would help Croda to move into bioderived monomers that create biodegradable polymeric materials, which can be achieved using energy efficient and Green chemistry approaches.
