Project Description: PhD student working on monomer synthesis at Nottingham
Daniel Inglis
Supervisor: Prof. Avtar Matharu & Prof. Duncan Macquarrie
Work packages: WP1 & WP3
Project Description: 1st Year PhD student working in the Green Chemistry department at the University of York. Work involves synthesising novel monomers and polymers that are biodegradable and made from renewable feedstocks.
Dr. Kirsten Hawkins
Supervisor: Prof. Helen Sneddon
Work packages: WP1 & WP3
Project Description: Kirsten is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of York. She is involved with the synthesis of lactone monomers for use as polymers via ring opening polymerization (ROP) the overall aim is to produce polymers which are bioderived and biodegradable where possible.
Dr. Pippy Jacob
Supervisor: Prof. Jonathan Hirst
Work packages: Associated with WP2 & WP5
Project Description: Pippy is an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow. Her research is aligned with WP5 and WP2. Over the course of one year, she will look at the application of machine learning for polymer biodegradability. Her PhD, from the University of Nottingham, focussed on the synthesis and application of biorenewable polymers.
Jamie Glasper
Supervisor: Prof. James Chong
Work packages: WP4
Project Description: Jamie is a 1st year PhD student at University of York focusing on the ability of anaerobic digestion on biodegradability of novel polymers.
Dr. Lucas Al-Shok
Supervisors: Prof. Antoine Buchard and Prof. Helen Sneddon
Work packages: WP3
Project Description: Lucas is a postdoctoral researcher working at the University of York. His work focuses on the synthesis and modification of polymers made from renewable and sustainably obtained monomers by using various polymerisation techniques such as ring-opening polymerisation.
