The Nottingham City Projection Augmented Relief Model (PARM) won the Garsdale Design Award for 3D Cartography at the British Cartographic Society Conference on Thursday 5 September. The PARM was also judged to be the overall winner across all five categories of awards.The PARM was created by Dr Gary Priestnall from the School of Geography working closely with the GIS team at Nottingham City Council and the City as Lab initiative on the University of Nottingham’s new Castle Meadow campus. Using Nottingham as a dynamic living laboratory, City as Lab brings people together to create, co-produce and test new ideas, tools and technologies that put local challenges at the heart of activities. BBC News report Castle Meadow Campus has been given the go-ahead.
The inclusive financial technology hub, INFINITY has been awarded a new £1.4 million grant from Research England to develop a fintech hub at the heart of the city.
The University of Nottingham’s City as Lab initiative in a collaboration led by Nottingham City Council funded by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, won the Innovation Category and was named Overall Winner across all categories as part of this year’s Geography in Government Awards
On Thursday, 27 July 2023, we proudly hosted our inaugural Community Open Day at the future site of Castle Meadow Campus (CMC). More than 150 people from across the county gathered to learn more about the site’s vision, brought to life by our passionate colleagues at the heart of the programme.
