Postgraduate Women in Physics Conference 2025

School of Physics and Astronomy, University Park Campus
Wednesday 5 March 2025

The Postgraduate Women in Physics Conference is a one-day event dedicated to exploring the research and career journeys of people who identify as women in physics, both during and beyond their PhD studies.

The aim of the day is to inspire fellow students and to highlight potential avenues for careers post-PhD. The programme will feature six distinguished speakers from academia and industry, who will talk about their career paths and share personal experiences of being women in physics.

There will also be a poster session where attendees will have the chance to showcase their research and network with peers and professionals. The conference will be a fantastic opportunity for students and recent graduates to come together, make valuable connections and find out about what is possible during and after completing a PhD in physics.

Deadline to register for the event is 31 January 2025.

FAQs

Where do I go to register on the day?

Registration will be in the atrium in the Monica Partridge Building. Registration opens at 9am.

How do I get to the conference location?

University Park is most easily accessible by the tram from Nottingham Station. See our travel information about how to get here and where the conference buildings are located.

Is parking available at the conference?

We do not have dedicated parking for the conference. There is a visitor's car park on campus that is pay-and-display, however we strongly recommend travelling by public transport if you are able.

Is there any funding available for travel?

Unfortunately we can't provide any assistance for travel to the conference, however most PhD students should be able to claim this from their travel fund provided as part of their studentship.

What will the talks be about?

The speakers may discuss what their research/job is now, what their career paths have been, how and when they decided to follow that path, and how they use their PhD in their day-to-day work. They may also cover some topics specific to their experiences.
