Digital and Technology Services (DTS) are an innovative and agile team of technical experts and partners at the University of Nottingham.

We determine the digital strategy for the global university. We offer a range of compelling digital solutions and technology services to meet the diverse needs of students, staff and researchers. Our team strives to deliver an exemplary and collaborative experience to the university community.

Team structure

Functional areas that make up the department are detailed below.  

Strategy and Enterprise Architecture

This function maps out and plans the university’s digital estate through the creation of business application, infrastructure, data, security and integration architecture reference models. The team also determine the enterprise architecture and technology strategy. Decision support and consultancy are offered, along with technology roadmaps and horizon scanning.

Intelligent Client Function

The Intelligent Client Function oversees the management, development and maturity of Digital and Technology Services. Customer insights are provided that shape the demand and provision of commercial and contractual support to gain the best from our partnerships. The team manages business plans, finances, quality, people and data to provide performance insights. 

 

Service Design

Service Design deliver our global project and programme portfolio, ensuring new technology solutions are customer centric, well designed and built to a high quality. This cross functional team provide solution design and architecture, user experience and service design, software development, digital research, programme and project management and implementation, testing and delivery of solutions and services. 

Service Delivery

This function delivers customer focused, secure, professional and responsive technology services and ensures the smooth running of our global infrastructure, platforms and systems. The team champion and improve the maturity of service operation disciplines and instil structured processes, ensuring a consistent and measurable service.

The Digital Education Service brings together expertise in technology, digital method and practice of teaching (pedagogy), and multimedia production to deliver excellence in teaching, learning and assessment. Innovative teaching solutions are provided using an extensive toolkit of technologies and approaches. University of Nottingham Online (UoNO) offers a range of flexible courses that are delivered and assessed entirely online.
The Enterprise Integration Service (EIS) ensures all the university’s IT systems can integrate with each other. Data is captured once and used only in relevant systems. The data flow is secure, scalable and reusable.
The Education Administration Continuous Improvement Team (EACIT) makes continuous and lasting improvements to education administration systems and processes. They primarily support our student records system, Campus Solutions.
UniCore is the university’s integrated HR, Finance and Procurement system. This team is responsible for enhancing this system and its processes.
Our students use the MyNottingham app to access their teaching timetable, library account, bus timetables, university campus maps and key dates. The Mobile App Team develop this app and provide support and consultancy for other apps.
This team manages and develops our Research Information System (RIS). Academic staff and researchers use this system to manage research activities, from initial project conception to publication and impact generation.
