Registering your new device

Before connecting a new device to the university network, you must register it first with Digital and Technology Services. This will ensure the device functions correctly and is managed to university standards. Software and security settings will also be applied to keep your information and device safe.

Follow these steps to register your device:

  1. Open this IT support form
  2. State that you wish to register your device
  3. Include the device’s hostname (in the format DUIPXXXXX or LUINXXXXX) and MAC address. These can be found on the box the device arrived in

Existing staff registering a new device

In the form, also include the hostname and MAC address of your old device that is being replaced. These details can be found by typing ‘ServiceDesk’ into the search on your old device and pressing return. This will run the ServiceDesk app, which will display the hostname and MAC address.

Install software on your device

If you are a new member of staff, ensure you activate your new university IT account and you set up an authentication method

You can install software on your device yourself or request that we do this for you. Follow these steps to install the software yourself:

  4. If you require specialist software, view the Software Library
