Getting to the University by train

Nottingham is right in the centre of the country and is very well connected to all other major cities by the train network. 

The University is well serviced by Nottingham, Beeston and East Midlands Parkway (for Sutton Bonington) trains stations.

International arrivals

Working in partnership with the national coach service, National Express, we deliver a bespoke service from London Gatwick and London Heathrow airports to Nottingham at a discounted rate for all students who will be arriving into the UK from overseas during September 2017.

 When to arrive

The 2017-18 academic year starts on Monday 25 September.

You can move into University accommodation on Saturday 23 September (or earlier depending on your accommodation). Please do not attempt to arrive on Sunday 24 September as main roads around Nottingham and the University will be closed due to the Robin Hood Marathon. Student IT tutors will be available 11am to 5pm on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September to help you get your devices connected.

Catered halls

University Park and Jubilee Campus

If you're going to be living in catered accommodation, you'll be able to move in from 9am on Saturday 23 September. Please visit the accommodation page for more details.

Newark Hall students will only be able to check in from 3pm onwards, we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this delayed check-in time.

If you're unable to arrive on this date or you will arrive after midnight, please contact your hall to confirm your arrangements.


International students

Attending the Welcome programme?

Thursday and Friday 21-22 September 2017

If you have  booked onto the International Welcome programme, you will be able to move into your term-time accommodation (university or university-arranged accommodation only).

Bookings must be made by 23:59 Sunday 10 September 2017 (UK time) for this to apply.


Self and part-catered halls

Sutton Bonington and off-campus

If you're going to be living in self-catered accommodation, arrival information can vary from hall to hall. All of the information and arrival instructions should be in your offer pack.

It is possible to send luggage to your hall in advance.; All luggage MUST be correctly addressed with the EXACT destination.

Please inform your hall to expect a delivery if you intend on sending anything in advance.


Parking Information

University parking restrictions are relaxed for your move-in day, so if its not too busy and if it's safe around the hall area, you'll be able to park as close as possible to unload. There's also no parking charges.

On the day of your arrival, we'll have helpers to direct you to your halls of residence. They'll make themselves known to you.

Once you've unloaded, you'll be directed to park in one of our designated car parks.
