Externally funded fellowships

In addition to the University’s own Early Career Fellowship schemes, there are a wide range of fellowships available from various funding bodies, charities and institutions specifically targeted at Early Career Researchers.

These fellowships are designed to give younger researchers who already have postdoctoral experience an opportunity to launch themselves into their own independent research career. All fellowship applications require an original research proposal, which needs to be obviously distinct from the research of your postdoctoral or PhD supervisors.

We encourage the best candidates to contact us with a view to applying for fellowships to be held at The University of Nottingham, and potential applicants are advised to contact the proposed host school as soon as possible to discuss their application.

Applicants for Research Council and Royal Society Fellowships are encouraged to send a completed Expression of Interest Form to the Head of School at least one month before the submission deadlines – please check these carefully. If you are approved to submit a full application, we will support you strongly in both writing the proposal and preparing for the interview.
