On Saturday the 14th of March, the University of Nottingham Archery Club headed to Warwick to compete in the BUCS Indoor Archery Finals, held at the Warwick Sports and Wellness Hub, where they delivered a series of outstanding performances and brought home an impressive medal haul.

A very early start to the day saw fantastic shooting from the Nottingham squad in the qualification rounds, setting a solid foundation for a successful day. The women's team of Louisa Piper, Hannah Evans and Sophie Bradford delivered excellent scores early on, securing the team gold medal and putting themselves in a confident position heading into the head-to-head matches later in the day.

The early team success was followed by tense head-to-head matches which saw UoN achieve further individual success across the board. Sport scholar Louisa Piper led the way, returning to the top of the podium to claim the women's recurve gold medal for a second consecutive year. Eva Jessen also contributed to the medal tally, winning the gold medal in the women's barebow competition after a close final match, narrowly taking the victory in the final set.

In the open categories, Sam Cartwright added another gold medal to the haul by winning the Open Compound competition in an extremely tense match, finishing just 2 points ahead of his competitor from Leicester. Jago Elliot earned a well-deserved bronze medal in the Open Longbow competition, confidently defeating his opponent for third place after a long day.

All of Nottingham's archers delivered strong performances throughout the event, competing against the country's top university talent. Notably, the women's gold medals were achieved in categories with a combined field of 105 competitors, highlighting the scale and competitiveness of their accomplishment.

The results mark a hugely successful conclusion to the indoor season for the club, with the team now looking ahead to the outdoor season, aiming to build on this momentum and achieve even more success for the #GreenandGold.

We would like to congratulate everyone involved in the University of Nottingham Archery Club's success and look forward to seeing them compete in the Outdoor Championships in June.
