The University of Nottingham recently hosted the 2025 BUCS Handball Finals, with university teams from across the country competing to become men's and women's national champions. The two day tournament took place at the end of March, with the University of Nottingham entering a team into the women's competition.

Everyone involved with this achievement has done so well - every player has given it their all and the results are a reflection of that.

Having performed superbly throughout the year so far, the University of Nottingham women's handball team entered the competition in great form and were aiming to remain unbeaten in competition this season.

Once competition began on Saturday 29th March, the #GreenandGold made full use of home advantage, storming through the pool stages with victories over Liverpool, Strathclyde, and Kent, advancing to the knockout rounds. Here, the group would hold their nerve in Sunday's semi-final by beating HSU 21-9.

The side would then face Loughborough in a hard-fought final, and the match lived up to all expectations. With fast transitions, excellent goalkeeping displays, and moments of individual brilliance, the University of Nottingham registered a comfortable 22-13 victory in the final to be crowned national champions for 2025.

Coach's Player of the Tournament and incoming president, Grace Concar reflected on the achievements of the team by saying that; “Everyone involved with this achievement has done so well - every player has given it their all and the results are a reflection of that. The club and I are looking forward to next season where we can hopefully win it again!”

These performances ensured that this year's group of players became the first University of Nottingham Handball team to ever win the top division in BUCS. Congratulations to everyone involved in the magnificent success of our handball club this year.

With 32 teams from universities across the UK competing in four major competitions, the championships were a true showcase of how far university handball has come in recent years, and it was a pleasure to host the tournament here at the University of Nottingham.
