BUCS individual and team success for Nottingham gymnasts
The University of Nottingham's Gymnastics Club claimed both individual and team medals at the recent BUCS championships in Leicester, held from the 31st of January to 1st February. Across the weekend, the club showed skill and dedication to bring home multiple individual podium finishes, as well as a bronze team medal in the men's Grade 2 all-around category.

Hosted at New College Leicester, the championships saw hundreds of gymnasts compete across two days in men's and women's artistic gymnastics, spanning Grades 1 to 4. Nottingham athletes showed the results of their hard work, delivering outstanding performances and achieving an impressive collection of top three finishes.
Jasmine Thomas, competing in women's artistic Grade 2, delivered an exceptional performance impressing the club across the competition. She secured second place across multiple apparatus, including floor, uneven bars and vault, and claimed silver in the all-around category featuring over 100 gymnasts. Her performance highlighted both her ability and resilience, further strengthening Nottingham's reputation within BUCS gymnastics.
The men's Grade 2 category also saw strong performances from Nottingham, with two athletes finishing on the podium. Zach Armstrong earned silver medals on both vault and parallel bars, finishing the day in second place all-around. He was joined by teammate Joe Dodson, who marked his BUCS debut with an impressive third-place finish.
Nottingham's men's team finished the championships by securing a bronze medal in the men's artistic Grade 2 all-around, contributing to an impressive total of nine medals across the weekend and reinforcing the club's strong competitive presence.
The championships also marked the first BUCS appearances for Ellie Heard, Izzy Lamb, Bella Given, Lilidh Campbell and Lucy Durrant, all of whom represented Nottingham with pride.
Vice president, Lilidh Campbell, reflected on the weekend: "Gymnastics has been a big part of the University life and it was a true pleasure to compete with this team. It was such a great opportunity to be a part of and there couldn't have been a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere. I am so proud of our team for what they accomplished, and I have full confidence that we will continue to succeed and achieve throughout our next competitions".
University of Nottingham Sport congratulates all athletes on their dedication and success in the BUCS Championships and look forward to seeing them compete again soon. The club now turns its focus to the penultimate University Gymnastics Cup competition in Manchester in the beginning of March followed by the finals back in Leicester in May.
