Golds galore as the University of Nottingham host the 2025 BUCS Table Tennis Individual Championships
Over the 28th to 30th of November, University of Nottingham Table Tennis athletes took part in the 2025 BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Table Tennis Individual Championships, once again dominating against the country's top university players. The team delivered a phenomenal weekend, taking home an impressive 12 medals - including 4 golds - strengthening the squad's reputation as the leading force in university table tennis.

Jiaqi Meng competing at the 2025 BUCS Individual Table Tennis Championships
Across three days of high-level competition at the University of Nottingham's David Ross Sports Village, Nottingham athletes showcased exceptional skill and determination across all categories. The stand out performance came from Jiaqi Meng, who yet again completed another remarkable BUCS hat-trick by winning all three gold medals available to her, contributing significantly to the impressive medal haul and highlighting the strength of the #GreenandGold athletes who competed at the championships.
Meng's dominance saw her claim gold in the Women's Singles, Women's Doubles with Sophie Earley and Mixed Doubles with Hanming Lin, marking her second consecutive BUCS sweep and reinforcing her position as one of the most formidable players in the competition.
Jonathan Mooney also delivered a great run of performances to take a superb individual gold in the Men's Singles, ensuring that the University of Nottingham secured four of the five gold medals on offer at the championships.
Sophie Earley added a silver in the Women's Singles, rounding off a strong individual showing. The squad continued to impress in the doubles events, with Meng and Earley taking gold, followed by silver medallists Mari Baldwin and Jasmin Wong. Nottingham's dominance persisted with two further pairs both claiming bronze, securing all three podiums for the Green and Gold.
Success continued in the mixed doubles, where three more Nottingham pairs joined Meng and Lin on the podium, once again sweeping the medals and showcasing Nottingham's talent. In the Men's doubles, Lin and Xinliang Sun secured bronze leaving the team to take home a total of 12 medals.
A huge congratulations to all athletes and everyone contributing to the extraordinary weekend that has continued to elevate Nottingham as one of the strongest programmes in the UK.
The University of Nottingham was once again very proud to host the very best of UK university table tennis talent, and the 2025 championships broke new records as this year registered the highest number of unique participants to compete.
