Nottingham athletes begin their snowsport season with BUCS Dryslope Championships

This season, the BUDS championships in Gloucester saw entries from University of Nottingham's new and returning athletes in both Men's and Women's individuals, Ski duals and Snowboarding duals. The team took a 4th place for the first time in addition to an individual bronze, with many athletes scoring personal bests.

This year, all 3 women in the ski individuals finished in the top 16 in run 1, with run 2 having Anna Morgan placing 13th out of the 107 total starters. In the Men's, Harry Toms and Matthew Lewis finished 20th and 30th out of the 150 starters in their BUCS debuts. In the Ski Race Duals event, the 1st team finished in the top 16 out of 43 teams, and the 2nd team had a great victory against the Birmingham 3rd team but sadly lost to the Durham 1st team who went on to win the event.

Rory Tann and Marco Baschiera-Sabet both delivered impressive performances as in the Ski Rail jam, Rory placed 3rd to win a fantastic bronze medal whilst Marco placed 11th at his first ever ski competition. The snowboarding team gave a great effort in the duals event but unfortunately lost to Swansea, who also went on to win the event.

Rory Tann, the freestyle captain reflected on the competition by saying “We had an incredible weekend in Gloucester at the BUDs competition, meeting new friends from all over the country and creating memories we’ll be talking about for years to come!"

The race team is excited for upcoming competition multiple freestyle spectators are now excited to take their sport to the next level by competing at the next BUCS event.
