I had an incredible experience competing at the European Championships in Istanbul last week. I’m absolutely buzzing to have come away with a bronze medal — my first major international singles medal!

Emma landed in Turkey and entered the Women's Singles SL 4 competition, with the championships presenting a round robin format. Within her allocated group of opponents, Emma defeated Sophie Van Den Broek from the Netherlands, and Sofia Mazzoni from Scotland - both by a scoreline of 2-0. Despite losing the final fixture in Group B, Emma progressed through to the knockout rounds and straight into a semi-final fixture.

With a place in the final on the line Emma delivered a hugely valiant effort, but her opponent Helle Sofie Sagøy from Norway would go on to eventually win the whole tournament and be crowned champion. However, Emma's performances deservedly earned her a place on the podium and an impressive European Para Badminton Championship Bronze medal.

Reflecting on the achievement, Emma said "I had an incredible experience competing at the European Championships in Istanbul! It was an amazing opportunity to test myself against some of the top players in the world, and I learnt so much throughout the tournament. I’m absolutely buzzing to have come away with a bronze medal — my first major international singles medal. Hopefully, it’s just the beginning and there are many more to come!"

Everyone at the University of Nottingham would like to congratulate Emma on her medal winning performance on the continental stage.
