It was a great weekend for the club with some top performances all round! The atmosphere was great and the performances showed the hard work our athletes have been putting in on and off the court.

Stanley Sykes, University of Nottingham Squash Club President

The last weekend in November saw Nottingham's squash athletes step up to the challenge, with Jana Safy leading the team's success. Entering the competition as the number one seed, Safy dominated the Women's A Grade in style, progressing through the tournament without dropping a single game, securing a 3-0 in the final to claim the title.

In the Men's A Grade, Abdallah Eissa showed great determination in a close semi-final match, losing a close 1-3 encounter to the eventual champion. He responded well by winning the playoff for 3rd place by 3 games to 0, earning a well-deserved bronze medal. Anya Shah further added to Nottingham's success in the Women's B Grade, with a strong run of matches displaying consistency throughout the competition. Her efforts earned her a place in the final where she finished with a silver medal.

As well as the podium results, Nottingham's squad delivered competitive performances across the weekend. Club President, Stanley Sykes praised the team: "It was a great weekend for the club with some top performances all round. The atmosphere was great and the performances showed the hard work our athletes have been putting in on and off the court."

Everyone at University of Nottingham Sport congratulates our squash athletes on their achievements and look forward to seeing their performance in BUCS Premier Stage 2 starting at the end of January 2026.

The 2025 BUCS Squash Individual Championships at the University of Nottingham's David Ross Sports Village saw over 400 entries, and we were delighted to welcome players from across the country. As part of our ongoing work to drive sustainability in sport, event attendees were also encouraged to donate any unwanted and usable squash equipment at our ReBound collection points. The PSA Squash Tour Foundation’s ReBound programme recycles unwanted but usable squash equipment by redistributing them to squash programmes across the world that work with underserved children.
