Our Volunteer Co-ordinator awards recognise members of staff or students who manage volunteering activities for their school, department or faculty and are supported by our central Volunteering and Advocacy team. These individuals allow the volunteers to have the best possible volunteering experience with the university.
Volunteer Co-ordinator of the Year (Careers and Employability)
Alex Owusu, Employability Officer, Faculty of Registrars
Over the past academic year Alex has been instrumental in providing a range of volunteering opportunities for social sciences and arts alumni.
Working directly with faculties only works if we have stalwart staff like Alex. Not only does he consistently loop our team into events happening across various schools/departments which will be of interest to alumni volunteers and advocates, he also embraces any pilot projects we suggest with gusto!
No ask seems to onerous, and his positive can-do attitude is a breath of fresh air. We couldn't do our job without him, so for that reason Alex deserves some recognition!
Volunteer Co-ordinator of the Year (Engineering)
Vince Pizzoni, Associate Professor
Vince is a fantastic asset to support volunteering in the Faculty of Engineering. Vince cultivates excellent relationships with numerous alumni, helping to facilitate some brilliant alumni volunteers getting involved with activities.
We can always rely on Vince to provide us with names of alumni who are keen to support the university, resulting in engaging sessions for students.
Vince has also been a great support when it comes to delivering volunteering activities. Vince is very good at keeping us in the loop with alumni who have been in touch with the university or letting us know of interesting or inspiring alumni he has become aware of.
He is always willing to help and is a brilliant advocate for the benefits of volunteering.
Why not sign up and register your interest in our volunteering programme - we'll email you opportunities twice a year.
