Glyn Lawson (Associate Professor in Human Factors – University of Nottingham) hosted KPMG colleagues for a User Experience (UX) workshop looking at Virtual Reality-based visualisations of finance data.

The purpose of the session, hosted by INFINITY, was to map the user journeys associated with KPMG tax dashboards, understand the user requirements, and to look for opportunities to improve existing processes with immersive technologies.

Glyn explained:

VR and other immersive technologies have the potential to offer exciting user experiences when dealing with financial data. However, further research work is needed to develop design guidance and to fully understand where the technologies offer the most benefits – it’s essential that we adopt a user-centred design approach on this journey.

This was supported by Kaz Yousaf, Senior Manager of the Tax Technology and Innovation team at KPMG, who said:

I view good UX as absolutely vital for businesspeople to really engage with technology and use it to its full potential. The team are now developing the evidence base to lead the finance sector in the adoption of immersive visualisation.
