Event details
Aston University, in association with the Universities Policy Engagement Network (UPEN), is holding a series of annual international policy engagement summits, aimed at helping UK academic researchers to find out how best to collaborate with international organisations and policymakers in one broad policy area.
The 2025 edition of the summit will focus on the field of climate policy and is directed at UK based early and mid-career researchers who work in any field of climate research, and who are interested in engaging with UK policymakers on international climate issues.
This event will:
- set the scene: explore the current outlook of climate research and climate policy; interrogate how climate policy is governed nationally and internationally, and discuss how research informs the work of global climate organisations;
- offer peer learning: showcase excellence in international climate research from academics working in this area;
- explore routes to impact: discuss the best ways to engage with policy makers and key organisations in this area; consider how to identify key stakeholders and pitch research effectively; and
- offer practical advice: learn how researchers can leverage their outputs to be more relevant and accessible to wider audiences, including a tailored stakeholder mapping session.
This event will feature guest speakers and contributors including academics from a variety of institutions and climate policy experts who have all worked in the climate research and policy space and can therefore offer ‘insider’ perspectives and expertise.
Academics working at UPEN’s member institutions will be able to attend the conference free of charge.
Attendance at the event can be booked at International Policy Engagement Summit on Climate Policy.
Convened by Aston University and the Universities Policy Engagement Network (UPEN).
