Get involved in Sustainability Week 2021

Join us for a dedicated week of activities and events from 1-7 March to raise awareness about environmental and social issues.

In partnership, University of Nottingham, UoN Student Union, Nottingham Trent University, NTU Student Union and Nottingham City Council are combining expertise to share advice and guidance for sustainable living and how to make positive change.

Both universities are leading the way in sustainability, ranked in the top five of the most sustainable universities in the world 2020 and will play an important role as part of Universities for Nottingham in supporting Nottingham’s commitment to become the first carbon-neutral city in the country by 2028.

We encourage staff and students to take part in this dedicated week of activities. Events are detailed below.

1 – 5 March 2021 is also Student Switch Off Week of Action! There will be competitions, an online self-study masterclass, volunteer training sessions and action planning to encourage, enable and empower you to take action on sustainability.  Find out more and get involved.

How to have a sustainable diet

The need to start consuming more sustainable food and drinks is imperative if we want a more sustainable food secure future. Adopting a more sustainable diet as part of a shift in lifestyle choices is seen as one solution in tackling the global challenge of climate change.

Hannah Ford from the University of Nottingham’s Sensory and Consumer Sciences department is exploring consumer behaviour regarding sustainability in the food and beverage section. Read her blog piece today on how to reduce food wastage.

You can also be part of her research by taking part in the online sustainable dietary survey. Upon completion of the questionnaire you can opt into a prize draw where 4 lucky winners will receive a £50 Amazon voucher!

Friday 5 March

A sustainable future at UoN

We’re committed to our University being truly sustainable. We’re already doing a lot, but now’s the time to really step it up. So, we're launching a new campaign to bring together everything sustainability, and encourage and support staff and students alike to be more sustainable at the University.

Whether you’re a student or member of staff you can make a difference. Even the smallest actions add up to big impacts. Every sustainable change we make takes us closer to our goal, and change is possible when we all work together.

So let's go.

Join us across our social channels at 3pm on 5 March when our campaign launches.
