Undergraduate and postgraduate students
Self-catered sites are owned and managed by student accommodation providers arranged by the University. Melton Hall is owned and managed by the University.
You may choose to live near the campus you study on, but you don’t have to. There are free and frequent hopper bus links between University Park and Jubilee, and also between University Park and Sutton Bonington. Have a look at our Accommodation Options to decide where is best for you. The addresses of the each of the sites are listed online so you can search to view the exact location. You can also view our campus maps.
All bills are included in your fees:
- Heating, electricity and water
- Wi-Fi access in your room
- Junior Common Room (JCR) committee membership
You will have the freedom and flexibility to make your own meals whenever you like in your fully fitted kitchen. Remember to bring your own cutlery and crockery with you. There are a variety of grocery stores around the sites as well as cafes, takeaways and restaurants offering student discounts.
You can also sign up for our discounted flexible lunch card, visit Daily Bites Meal Card for details.
Food - Sutton Bonington
First year undergraduates are provided with evening meals Monday to Friday during term-time in the restaurant. There is a varied menu and a vegetarian option is always available. You will also have a kitchen in your flat and a grocery store right on campus giving you all the independence you need. If you are a postgraduate student at Bonington Hall, you can opt into this part-catered package by stating it on your application form.
Cleaning: communal areas (including kitchens and shared bathrooms) are cleaned every week at Melton Hall, Broadgate Park, Albion House and Cloister House; and fortnightly at Raleigh Park and St Peters Court. At Sutton Bonington shared bathrooms are cleaned twice a week. All sites have cleaning equipment provided for you to clean your own room.
Bedding: you will need to bring your own bedding and covers with you.
Laundry: there are laundry facilities that you can use for a small charge. Remember to buy your own washing powder.
Life in self-catered sites

Site managers: each site has a manager responsible for the day-to-day running of the site and they are committed to ensuring that you are comfortable in your new home.
Wardens and tutors: your hall also has a Warden and tutors on duty night and day for confidential support and advice and to ensure the site functions as a community that benefits everyone.
Security: with 24-hour security and secure sites, we make sure your environment is always safe and secure.
