What is a foundation year?
Is the foundation year for me?
The foundation year could be ideal if you:
- have not achieved your potential at school or college due to personal circumstances
- are a mature student looking to return to education and have evidence of recent study
- have good A levels but didn't study the subjects needed to apply for a health sciences degree
- have predicted grades below those needed to apply for a health sciences degree
What and how will I study?
Our teachers have experience delivering classes to our undergraduate health science students.
They bridge the gap between school/college and university to develop your confidence and help you adjust to university life.
Through seminars, lab sessions, lectures and group discussions you'll develop the key scientific and professional skills needed for degree-level study. You'll also be introduced to case-based learning.
After the foundation year
You need to have an idea about which health sciences profession you would like to pursue before you apply for the foundation course. This should be highlighted in your personal statement.
