Before you arrive
Check your Student Finance application – Check through your Student Finance application to make sure everything is in place prior to you starting at university. Main things to check are:
- Contact information
- University and Course (*see below if your application still shows another university)
- Bank account details are correct so you can receive your maintenance loan payments.
Your first maintenance loan (living costs) payment is paid to you 3-5 days after you fully register at university, this includes in-person registration so make sure you have some money to enjoy your first couple of days.
When you arrive
Maintenance Loan (living costs) Payment
Your Student Finance maintenance loan will be paid to you 3-5 working days after you complete registration. You must be FULLY registered to enable us to confirm this to Student Finance. Visit the Registration webpage for more information.
Not received your Maintenance Loan Payment?
Have you fully registered, online and in-person – see above
Have you allowed 3-5 working days?
Do you have an approved application with Student Finance and are all the details correct?
* If your application still shows another university, then please email a PDF copy of your entitlement letter to firstname.lastname@example.org and put ‘Transfer In’ as part of the email title. We can then advise you further.
Are your bank details correct, login to your Student Finance portal to check?
If you have checked all of this then you can contact the Financial Support Team to discuss further.
Tuition Fee Loan
If you have a tuition fee loan from Student Finance to cover your tuition fee charges, this will be loaded in your Nottingham Hub by the end of November 2022. If you have an approved loan and the institution is correct as University of Nottingham then you do not have to do anything further. See above if your entitlement letter still shows a different institution *.
Bank details entered in the Nottingham Hub
Please ensure that you enter your bank details into the Nottingham Hub and enrol them in Direct Deposit, see the Adding a bank account guide. This will ensure that if you are eligible for a payment from the university, e.g. a bursary, scholarship, stipend, ITT Bursary, we can pay this to you in a timely manner.
Check if you are eligible for any Bursaries or Scholarships
We will automatically assess you for the University Core Bursary, check our assessment guide. Check the eligibility criteria for the Nottingham Potential Bursary and Estrangement bursary.

Please do not respond but forward the email to email@example.com or the University's IT Service Desk.
