I am a MArch student in Sustainable Urban Design. Wirral Waters is a complex, large-scale, and challenging urban regeneration project. With great help from our studio tutors, my team members and I dedicated our efforts to accomplish this project. We gained valuable insights into waterfront living, urban brownfield regeneration, and mixed-use development.

Wirral Waters: A Community without Boundary

In this studio, we were very fortunate to participate in the Wirral Waters project—a complex and large-scale real project in cooperation with the Peel Group. Through site visits and site analysis, we have put forward the vision of 'A Community without Boundaries.' We employ different strategies to break the boundaries between the site and the city, between different plots inside the site, between the waterfront space and the site, between the interior and exterior of the building. Ultimately, our goal is to break the boundaries between people – regardless of who you are or where you come from, you can live and enjoy here equally and comfortably.

We have endeavoured to integrate different functions into the masterplan. For placemaking, we have strategically connected various public realms in series, aiming to enhance the existing transportation network, improve future connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists, and maximise the potential of waterfront areas. Our goal is to create a space without boundaries, enabling a seamless integration of life, work, and recreation, thereby forming a Community without Boundaries.
