The brief for this project intended to provide a central hub within London’s South Bank for various art forms and activities, regardless of perceived status, in an attempt to help aid the current difficulties faced by the Arts sector in today’s political climate.

The proposed design aims to bring together the different forms of art and expression found that are seen not only in London’s South Bank but across the country, from fine art and sculpture to street art and graffiti, as well as physical activities such as skateboarding. The scheme sits in the centre of the South Bank area and in doing so helped develop the programme and features to build a strong relationship with the physical and cultural context, creating thoroughfares and under-crofts to reflect the current urban fabric.

Sitting in the vicinity of iconic architecture like Lasdun’s National Theatre, the proposed design has a bold aesthetic to compliment the site, taking inspiration from relevant typologies to generate a more permeable space within an otherwise closed environment.
