Phased re-opening of our libraries

We will be re-opening our library buildings in phases. Hallward Library is open for book returns and click and collect access to print resources only. Our other libraries remain closed for now.

Study spaces

We expect to offer socially distant study space in our libraries as part of phase two. Please check our re-opening schedule for dates. 

More information about accessing study space and the types of spaces will be available soon.

Our smaller libraries (Business Library, Denis Arnold Music Library and Manuscripts and Special Collections) all provide a mix of individual and group study areas with a quiet atmosphere.

Laptop loans

Laptop loans are currently unavailable. We will update this page with an estimated date for this service when we can.

Laptops can be borrowed from library lending desks or self-service lockers where available.

Assistive technology rooms

There are three assistive technology rooms available. Please see our Enhanced Library Support pages for more information. 

How to book an assistive technology room

Book the assistive technology rooms: 

Let us know:

  • which library you want to use
  • date and time
  • duration required (up to three hours)
  • your Library Card number

You may hold four bookings of three hours at any one time.

On arrival

  • Collect the key from the lending desk (you have 30 minutes from the beginning of the booking to collect)
  • You will need to sign for it and show your University or Library Card
  • Return the key to the lending desk at the end of the session
