Architect at Pringle Richards Sharratt

My experience at University of Nottingham was life changing. I learnt the essential knowledge and skills in delivering a scheme from scratch. I also explored my interest in installation designs and met a diverse group of talented course mates. University of Nottingham gave me a lot of opportunities to explore my interests and the staff were very supportive.

What did you do after you graduated?

I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Part 1) in 2017. I always wanted to become an architect, so I started my Part 1 placement in London after a two-month summer break.

Where did your career take you next?

I really enjoyed the experience and projects I worked on during my Part 1 placement, and I wanted to pursue a master's degree, so I applied for a few master's courses (Part 2). I decided to go with the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London (UCL) and completed my course in 2020, qualifying as an architect in 2022. I am now working as an architect at Pringle Richards Sharratt.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Imagining and shaping spaces around people is really intriguing to me. I enjoy the process of designing, coordinating and engaging with users to explore the possibilities outside the brief.

I developed a solid foundation of knowledge during my time at University of Nottingham which set an important ground for pursuing a much more conceptual and imaginative career as an architect.

What has your University of Nottingham experience meant to you?

University of Nottingham was the place where I met friends to design and build the ‘Mementto Timber Pavilion’ for the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) 2019. I have explored my interest further by designing and delivering ‘The Friendly Blob’ with Jelly Collaborative for the LFA 2021. I look forward to exploring my side hustles further in the future.

What did you enjoy about your social time here?

I enjoyed joining different voluntary events during my time at University of Nottingham. In my spare time, I loved strolling around the university, the city centre and Beeston with my friends. These friends also became my travel buddies, and we travelled around Europe together.
